America unit

I never got around to posting pictures from the America unit created by Mrs. Jump. My kids had so much fun with this unit, they loved it. They especially enjoyed learning about the Statue of Liberty. Here is a look at what we did. I just bought a bunch of books for this unit from Half Price Books.

The president circle map came from another blogger.  I've always had this master and done it with my kids. I love the addition of a circle map.

pot O' gold!

I never seem to find time for St. Patrick's day with Spring break and all. Mrs. Carroll has a darling leprechaun that she makes. It is too cute not to make. What the Teacher Wants also posted a mini unit for free!

Texas activities

Here is a Texas style rhyme for your kiddos to have fun with. For more cute Texas style rhymes go to the Virtual Vine, here.
I always have my kids butter the popcorn words, underline the chunks, and illustrate the poem.

Discuss with your kids what a cowboy needs to wear and why. Talk about the hat, bandana, boots, spurs, chaps, and rope. You can have them compelete either the brace map or the bubble map.

My wanted poster is inspired by Mrs. Larremore's Texas unit. These look really cute with a photo of each child displayed along side it.

I have some really creative kiddos and I can only imagine how cute this is going to turn out. This idea came from Mrs. Larremore's Texas unit. After reading a book about Texas have your kids brainstorm things that are big in Texas.

Cat in the Hat

If you're still doing Dr. Seuss activities here is a cute glyph you can add to the list from the Virtual Vine.

You can display the finished glyphs on a huge hat or bow tie cut out of butcher paper. My team member, Ms. Do, did this and it looks super cute.

Texas Fun

I'm back and I have a lot to post. We have been busy working on Mrs. Jump's America unit and Mrs. Carroll's dental health unit. Now I am ready for some Texas fun! I am all about graphing (pie graphs, bar graphs, picture graphs), so I created a western theme yes/no graph and data recording sheet (inspiration from Cara Carroll). I plan to make a large boot out of butcher paper and make a circle graph.
