Meet the teacher treat

Meet the teacher night is fast approaching! I love meeting all of my students and their families! I especially love it when my past students come back to say hi. It is always such a fun and exciting night for everyone. Here is what I will be sending home this year. You can grab your own copy here.

Back to School!

Kindergartners grow and develop so much from August to May! Seeing this growth is so rewarding as their teacher. Here is a free activity to do at the beginning of the school year and again at the end of kindergarten. This makes a sweet end of the year keepsake! Kindergarten is such a big year!

A peek into my room

We have celebrated three birthdays this school year. When it is your birthday, during morning work, everyone colors a page just for you. The child celebrating the birthday gets to color the front cover. Simply collect all the pages to make a class birthday book. I adapted this cute idea from Christina Bainbridge.

 

You also get to take home one of these cute birthday balloons from What the Teacher Wants.

This is how I display my birthdays. The frame is from Ikea.

This year our school district is implementing a new program called Literacy By 3. Look at our brand new leveled library! So excited about this. All of the colorful bins are from Big Lots.

Every year I love to include these three adorable crafts by Julie Lee!! So precious. (Chester the raccoon, No David, Miss Viola Swamp)

We have been learning all about what a scientist is. The pieces for this anchor chart are from Chalk Talk.

This is currently our bulletin board. I am loving the flamingo trend right now.

I love reading Lacy Walker Non Stop Talker at the beginning of the year to discuss the importance of being a good listener. Chart inspiration from Cara Carroll

 

I love making class books and try to make them regularly. It is always the first things my kids choose to read. Our kindergarten crew class book!

I found this idea on pinterest and started implementing it after our number talks.

While learning about circles we made pancakes!! We graphed blueberries or chocolate chips. Then we made chocolate chip pancakes.  

While cooking they completed this little how to.

We spent some time learning our names!

 In my classroom we have individual desks, tables, and carpet squares for children to work at.

 

 These are the kiddos mailboxes where they keep their pencil box, binder, and their towel for rest time.

 

Meet The Teacher Night and a Freebie

Tonight almost all 29 of my kinder kiddos showed up to meet me. The night was a huge success! In the summer I bought a set of lawn flamingos from Urban Outfitters for the sole purpose of . . . They are so cute! Tonight I found a purpose for my lawn flamingos! I made a photo booth out of butcher paper and streamers. I made props and used my Fujifilm instax mini to take pictures. I wanted the parents to take a picture of both me and their child. I liked the idea of sending them home with a photo of me so that when first day jitters come they can look at their picture. Each child held on to that picture like it was treasure! It was precious to see. Here are some pictures from meet the teacher.

Daily schedule and back to school with BIC

Back to school is right around the corner. It was such a good summer! I'm sad to see it end but I'm also so excited to meet my new little kindergartners! Here we go again . . .

3 tips that will inspire kids to write

1. Set aside specific times during the day for kids to write and share back. You can look at my daily schedule above to see when I do it.

2. Have a variety of colorful pens, pencils and markers for kids to choose from. This gets them excited about writing.

3. Give each kid a designated area to write. This year I bought special carpet squares for each child so that they have their own designated spot to work. {carpet squares are from IKEA}
